Interface Studio hired to help create new downtown plan<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fort Wayne, Indiana (April 14, 2026) \u2013 Fort Wayne will contract with Interface Studio, LLC to create a downtown plan that will guide future investment, growth and development for the next ten years. Fort Wayne City Council approved a $330,605 contract with the planning and urban design firm based in Philadelphia this evening, April 14.<\/p>\n

Fort Wayne Community Development received 13 proposals for the work, and a review committee selected Interface Studio for their depth of experience with downtown planning for similar and larger-sized cities, such as Raleigh, Durham, Fargo, Montgomery, Macon, Harrisonburg and St. Louis.<\/p>\n

Fort Wayne\u2019s current downtown plan, Blueprint for the Future<\/a>, was adopted in 2003. Subsequent updates to that plan and additional reports and studies have led to more than $1 billion in investment in the heart of Fort Wayne over the last 22 years.<\/p>\n

Catalytic projects over that time include Parkview Field, the Harrison, Ash Skyline Tower, Superior Lofts, the Urban Trail, Cityscape Flats, The Landing, The Bradley, Promenade Park, Electric Works, The Pearl and Pearl Arts Center, Riverfront at Promenade Park, the Arts United Center expansion and more.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s vital to recognize where we\u2019ve been and where we want to go in the future,\u201d said Mayor Sharon Tucker. \u201cInvesting resources in an updated plan for our thriving downtown will help ensure ongoing opportunities to make Fort Wayne the best city possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Development of the new downtown plan has broad support from community partners, with funding provided by the Allen County Board of Commissioners, Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne Richard D. Waterfield Charitable Fund, Downtown Fort Wayne, Greater Fort Wayne Inc., Fort Wayne New Markets Revitalization Fund and the City of Fort Wayne\u2019s Community Development Division.<\/p>\n

The plan is estimated to be completed within 12 months, and the public will have multiple opportunities to provide their ideas about what\u2019s next for downtown Fort Wayne.<\/p>\n
