Second annual community blood drive to take place at Parkview Field<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The Fort Wayne TinCaps are “stepping up to the plate” on Monday, July 26, to try to boost the blood supply as they host a special blood drive at Parkview Field. The TinCaps plan to once again “Hit 300” donations with the help of the local community and downtown businesses.<\/p>\n
The TinCaps blood drive will take place on Monday, July 26, from 7:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Parkview Field in the Lincoln Financial Event Center, located on the right field concourse. Come to donate and receive a ticket to a TinCaps game and an American Red Cross stadium seat cushion.<\/p>\n
“The Red Cross is excited to once again partner with the Fort Wayne TinCaps to help boost our blood supply this summer,” said Sharyn Whitman, CEO for the Indiana-Ohio Blood Services Region of the American Red Cross. “Summer is a difficult time to collect blood. While many families are traveling, high schools and colleges are out of session and regular blood donors often take a break from giving blood. We must rely on businesses and the community to help ensure an adequate blood supply,” said Whitman.<\/p>\n
“The TinCaps are excited to get another chance to partner with the American Red Cross,” said Michael Limmer, Vice President of Marketing and Promotions for the Fort Wayne TinCaps. “Last year’s event was great, especially being able to collect over 300 pints of blood. We’d love to see this one-day event break last year’s record by getting the community out to Parkview Field, to give blood through the Red Cross. A TinCaps ticket is the least we can do to thank people for helping to save a life.”<\/p>\n
Parking is available from 7:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the Silver Lot, located at the corner of Brackenridge and Ewing Streets across from the Main Gate. Paid parking is also available in the Harrison Square Parking Garage or use nearby meter parking for $0.25 per hour.<\/p>\n

How to Donate Blood<\/strong>
\nTo schedule an appointment to donate please call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org for more information. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in some states), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. Please bring your Red Cross blood donor card or other form of positive ID when you come to donate.<\/p>\nAbout the American Red Cross<\/strong>
\nThe Indiana-Ohio Blood Services Region serves northern and central Indiana and northwestern Ohio, and needs to collect about 500 units of blood a day to meet patient need in more than 60 hospitals. In addition to providing blood to our community, the American Red Cross also provides relief to victims of disaster, trains millions in lifesaving skills, serves as a communication link between U.S. military members and their families, and assists victims of international disasters or conflicts.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
