Major tasks include conducting Safety Inspections, New Entrant Safety Audits, and Compliance Reviews to ensure compliance with equipment and hours-of-service regulations.<\/p>\n<p>CVED is also tasked with enforcing Indiana\u2019s size and weight laws and ensuring that commercial carriers are properly registered and paying their fair share of fuel tax dollars. Additionally, they assist in the investigation of commercial vehicle crashes (post-crash inspections) and manage the annual school bus inspection program.<\/p>\n<p>From January 1-February 14, 2026, because of their enforcement efforts, ISP CVED accomplished the following:<\/p>\n<p>Total CMV Inspections Completed \u2013 6,455<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Total Out of Service Drivers \u2013 653<\/li>\n<li>Total Out of Service Vehicles \u2013 752<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Total Number of Oversize Violations \u2013 49<br \/>\nTotal Number of Overweight Violations \u2013 278<\/p>\n<p>During the week of January 12-16, 2026, ISP CVED participated in the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign which resulted in personnel performing the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Seven (7) public speaking engagements<\/li>\n<li>Six (6) media interviews<\/li>\n<li>11 social media posts<\/li>\n<li>1,007 wallet cards and brochures provided to CMV drivers<\/li>\n<li>718 inspections conducted<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally, from January 25-28, 2026, CVED personnel assisted their local ISP Districts in the aftermath of the winter storm by investigating 131 vehicle crashes and taking 2,342 calls for service, both of which were above and beyond normal CVED duties.<\/p>\n<p>ISP CVED\u2019s enforcement efforts are part of Governor Braun\u2019s public safety platform to ensure safe environments to travel, work and live for all Hoosiers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Related Images:<\/h3><div class=\"ngg-related-gallery\">\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/gallery\/in\/trooper_noone.jpg\"\n\t\t\ttitle=\"Indiana State Police Trooper Chris Noone.
