New Haven\u2019s Annual State of the City Address Highlights A City on the Rise<\/strong><\/p>\n

New Haven, Indiana (January 25, 2026) \u2014\u00a0As we settle into a new year, New Haven Mayor Steve McMichael gave an overview of 2025 and previewed 2026\u00a0to guests and dignitaries at the New Haven Community Center on Friday.<\/p>\n

Highlights from the year include the rollout of New Haven\u2019s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas (DORAs) and a focus on wellness with the creation of our Community Health and All-Abilities coordinator positions. We also launched a survey to assess the wellness needs of the community, the results of which will guide future endeavors and initiatives.<\/p>\n

The City saw more than $70 million in total investment between residential construction and commercial and industrial projects. Citizens and visitors can see real-time investments through developments like growth at Gateway Apartments and warehouse and distribution buildings along Linden Road and Rose Avenue.<\/p>\n

The announcement of New Haven NHEXT and groundbreaking of the field house at the New Haven District highlighted how New Haven is a City of the Rise, showcasing bold ideas and excitement to make the city a destination.<\/p>\n

“A little over six years ago, I stood right here and said the twenties would be New Haven\u2019s decade,” said Mayor Steve McMichael during the address. “Some folks laughed. But look around now, businesses are booming, families are moving in, and soon the District will bring thousands here for youth sports… Providing opportunities for current residents and visitors.”<\/p>\n

The completion of the latest segment of the Lincoln Highway Trail and the rollout of a survey for the Safe Streets for All initiative showcase our dedication to physical connectivity. Ensuring our residents have access to quality amenities is just another way we focus on placemaking. As for informational connectivity, Activate New Haven continues to be the city’s communication hub, offering in depth communication on infrastructure projects, community events, and more.<\/p>\n

While this past year was a success, Team New Haven looks forward to 2026 and all it has to offer.\u00a0Initiatives of note include Guardian Park, a project spearheaded by the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council; the field house at the New Haven District; and the continuation of the Lincoln Highway Trail. All of these endeavors further establish New Haven as a City on the Rise.<\/p>\n
