The project enhanced Edsall Avenue from Pontiac Street to approximately 75 feet south of the centerline of Reynolds Street in asphalt. The new road is 24 feet wide from the back of curb to the back of curb between Pontiac Street and New Haven Avenue and is 27 feet wide from back of curb to back of curb from New Haven Avenue to 75 feet south of the centerline of Reynolds Street. The project also included sidewalk on both sides of the road, storm water infrastructure improvements to help drainage and streetlight updates.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to this project, all four quadrants of the City saw enhancements through investments that included sidewalks, street lighting, concrete street reconstruction, asphalt resurfacing, chip and seal, trails, alleys and bridges.<\/p>\n<p>Neighborhood infrastructure highlights (<a href=\"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/docs\/City_of_Fort_Wayne\/Public_Works\/2025\/2025_Public_Works_completed_projects.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Complete list of 2025 accomplishments<\/a>):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$4.75M &#8211; miscellaneous concrete repairs, including in-house work<\/li>\n<li>$500K &#8211; curb repairs<\/li>\n<li>$500K &#8211; ADA curb ramp packages<\/li>\n<li>$400K &#8211; trip hazard elimination &#038; levelling<\/li>\n<li>$350K &#8211; guardrail and attenuator repairs<\/li>\n<li>$325K &#8211; sidewalk repairs (50% cost share)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 major arterial improvement projects<\/li>\n<li>6 neighborhood street rehab projects<\/li>\n<li>28.5 miles of contracted asphalt resurfacing (includes several multi-lane arterials)<\/li>\n<li>3 miles of asphalt in-house resurfacing<\/li>\n<li>4 bridge rehab\/replacement projects<\/li>\n<li>1 brick alley repair project<\/li>\n<li>21 concrete alley replacements<\/li>\n<li>4 new sidewalk construction projects<\/li>\n<li>3 new trail projects and 3 new trailhead projects<\/li>\n<li>9 traffic projects<\/li>\n<li>21 street lighting projects<\/li>\n<li>4.6 miles of chip and seal to asphalt conversions<\/li>\n<li>32 projects in study, design, permitting or land acquisition stage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(This list includes projects that were completed, still under construction, or bid in 2025.)<\/p>\n<p>Projects carried forward from 2024:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 new sidewalk construction projects<\/li>\n<li>1 trail project<\/li>\n<li>3 neighborhood rehab\/reconstruction projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Looking ahead to 2026, residents and businesses will see a continuation of the City&#8217;s commitment to neighborhood infrastructure projects with a planned investment of $37 million, which includes $28.3 million for streets\/roads\/bridges, $4.8 million for sidewalks and alleys, and $3.9 million for trails. Since 2014, the City has invested more than $388 million in neighborhood infrastructure enhancements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve seen an excellent year of progress and the completion of dozens of projects to enhance our neighborhoods and traveling corridors,\u201d said Mayor Tucker. \u201cHaving a safe and efficient transportation system for all users is one of the reasons why we\u2019re a community that continues to grow and succeed.
