Schools host special events to celebrate Veterans Day<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fort Wayne, Indiana (November 10, 2025) – Fort Wayne Community Schools will honor and celebrate Veterans Day with activities and events throughout the District. Students will honor veterans in their families, perform patriotic music and celebrate careers in the military.<\/p>\n

Monday, Nov. 10, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jefferson Middle School<\/strong> hosted a celebration to honor all who have served. Donuts and coffee were served following the program. The Fort Wayne Police Department Honor Guard presented the United States flag.<\/p>\n

Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n

Arlington Elementary School<\/strong> will host a Veterans Day program at 1:30 p.m. Students will make cards and sing songs to honor the veterans.<\/p>\n

Blackhawk Middle School<\/strong> students are honoring veterans through a meaningful letter-writing project in their social studies classes. Each student is writing a personal letter to a veteran residing in a local nursing home, expressing gratitude for their service and sacrifices.<\/p>\n

Bloomingdale Elementary School<\/strong> students will participate in activities centered around honoring veterans. Each activity connects to the curriculum while encouraging students to reflect on the meaning of service and sacrifice. Students will write original poems dedicated to veterans, write letters to veterans and write essays exploring what it means to be a veteran. CAS-Nebraska will honor veterans with a presentation of colors by members of the Fort Wayne Air National Guard Base and a flag-folding ceremony at 12:30 p.m. Staff members who are veterans will also be recognized for their service.<\/p>\n

Croninger Elementary School<\/strong> will host a Veterans Day assembly at 2 p.m. The event will include a parade through Croninger, program and recognition of local veterans.<\/p>\n

Fairfield Elementary School<\/strong> will create a memorial table to remember and honor those lost. During morning announcements, a special poem will be read, along with a message about the meaning of Veterans Day. Throughout the day, teachers will lead discussions during community time to help students learn about the importance of service and sacrifice. Students will also write letters for the Honor Flight.<\/p>\n

Franke Park Elementary School<\/strong> is hosting a ceremony for veterans who are family members of Franke Park students at 9:30 a.m. Following the ceremony, there will be an honor walk through the school to allow students and staff to show appreciation for the veterans. Veterans’ pictures will also be hung on the Honor Wall.<\/p>\n

Glenwood Park Elementary School<\/strong> will honor veterans with a student-led assembly at 9:30 a.m. Veterans who have personal connections to Glenwood Park have been invited to attend. Students will sing songs and read short letters they have written. A cookie reception will follow the program.<\/p>\n

Harris Elementary School<\/strong> students will participate in a variety of classroom activities to honor veterans and learn about their contributions and sacrifices.<\/p>\n

Harrison Hill Elementary School<\/strong> will recognize veterans during the morning announcements. Students will also do various activities in the classrooms.<\/p>\n

Holland Elementary School<\/strong> is hosting two Veterans Day programs at 9:30 and 11 a.m. Each will include an introduction of veterans, a flag-folding presentation, a donation to Angel Flight and patriotic songs.<\/p>\n

Indian Village Elementary School<\/strong> fifth-grade students will lead a ceremony honoring veterans. The event includes singing and poems read by students.<\/p>\n

Irwin STEM Elementary School<\/strong> will honor veterans with a program at 10 a.m., featuring a United States flag presentation by the Wayne High School JROTC. Veterans in attendance will also be recognized and presented with gifts. Prior to the program, veterans will be treated to breakfast beginning at 9 a.m. and offered free haircuts.<\/p>\n

Levan Scott Academy<\/strong> will add a message to the school sign reading \u201cWe Love Our Vets.\u201d The message serves as a heartfelt thank-you to the brave men and women who have dedicated their lives to protecting our freedom and our community.<\/p>\n

Lincoln Elementary School<\/strong> students are painting patriotic-themed pumpkins to be given to 600 veterans. They will also line the road in front of the school with flags.<\/p>\n

Lindley Elementary School<\/strong> students are creating handmade cards to honor and thank veterans for their service.<\/p>\n

Maplewood Elementary School<\/strong> will host a Veterans Day ceremony beginning at 2 p.m. Veterans and their family members were invited to attend, joining the school community honoring their service and sacrifice.<\/p>\n

North Side High School<\/strong> will recognize veterans with special shirts honoring their service. Students with family members in the military will place flags in the schoolyard to show their appreciation.<\/p>\n

Northcrest Elementary School<\/strong> students will write letters to be given to veterans for the next Honor Flight.<\/p>\n

Northrop High School<\/strong> will recognize and thank its staff members who are veterans, honoring their service and contributions both in the community and at the school.<\/p>\n

Northwood Middle School<\/strong> sixth-grade students will place American flags along Washington Center Road, creating a tribute outside the school. Seventh graders are designing yard signs to thank our veterans, which will be displayed along the school pick-up line. Eighth graders are holding a friendly competition to collect donations in support of veterans at the VA hospital.<\/p>\n

Portage Middle School<\/strong> students are participating in classroom-based activities through their social studies classes to honor veterans. Each grade level is writing letters to Honor Flight honorees, expressing appreciation for their service and dedication to our country.<\/p>\n

Shambaugh Elementary School<\/strong> honored veterans with a special Honor Flight project. A parent whose uncle participated in an Honor Flight asked if students could write letters for the veterans to open during the flight. Students later viewed a video and photos from the flight, seeing firsthand the meaningful impact of their messages.<\/p>\n

Shawnee Middle School<\/strong> will honor veterans by lining the road in front of the school with flags.<\/p>\n

Snider High School<\/strong> will host veterans to share their \u201cStories of Service.\u201d For nearly 20 years, veterans have spoken with students, who then write thank-you letters for Honor Flight participants. Military artifacts and veteran photos submitted by students and staff will also be on display.<\/p>\n

Study Elementary School<\/strong> students will write letters to veterans.<\/p>\n

Towles Intermediate School<\/strong> is hosting a Veterans Day celebration at 8 a.m. to honor those who have served. Students will present a special program featuring patriotic performances and tributes to recognize veterans.<\/p>\n

Washington Center Elementary School<\/strong> is holding two assemblies to honor veterans at 9:30 and 10:20 a.m. During each assembly, veterans will be honored by the singing of patriotic songs and student presentations. Students are also creating a memorial wall to honor veterans.<\/p>\n

Waynedale Elementary School<\/strong> will hold a flag-raising ceremony at 9:30 a.m. to honor veterans. Students will also perform a special song they have been preparing in music class as part of the celebration.<\/p>\n

Weisser Park STEAM Elementary School<\/strong> is hosting a celebration at 9:30 a.m. The Veterans Day program will honor Weisser Park loved ones who have served or are currently serving. A small reception will follow the musical performance.<\/p>\n

Whitney Young Early Childhood<\/strong> students will learn about Veteran\u2019s Day through various stories. They will also make cards for the Honor Flight.<\/p>\n

Friday, Nov. 21, 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lane Middle School<\/strong> will honor veterans during a ceremony at 8:30 a.m. The event will include musical performances, the Fort Wayne Police Department Honor Guard will present the United States flag, a representative from the Wounded Warrior Project will make a presentation, and a donation will be made to the organization.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
