Community Harvest Food Bank Receives 30,000 meals From Glick Philanthropies<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fort Wayne, Indiana (November 6, 2025) – Glick Philanthropies surprised CHFB with notice of an incoming donation of $7,500 saying, \u201cAs our community prepares for the upcoming expiration of SNAP benefits, we recognize that countless families will soon face increased challenges of putting food on the table. In response, Glick Philanthropies is proud to provide a donation of $7,500 to Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana to help support your vital work during this critical time. This funding is enough to purchase 30,000 meals! Carmen Cumberland, CHFB President & CEO says, \u201cThe most fundamental need is food, and thriving begins when that need is met. Glick Foundation has long stood beside us in our mission, recognizing the importance of nourishing our neighbors, and for that, we are deeply grateful.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cWhile food insecurity was already a pervasive problem, food banks are now facing growing demand due to threats to SNAP, the federal government shutdown, and rising food prices,\u201d said David Barrett, Vice Chair, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Glick Family Foundation, an initiative of Glick Philanthropies. \u201cIt is our privilege to support Community Harvest Food Bank as they connect community members throughout northeast Indiana to essential food.\u201d<\/p>\n

Funding will go to buy food for all hunger relief programs across CHFB\u2019s nine counties. Programs such as Farm Wagon – the mobile food pantry with 13 locations, Hope for Heroes – our Veteran\u2019s Program, and Community Cupboard, our on-site food pantry. To learn more about these programs, people can go to www.chfb.org<\/a> to learn more about receiving help or giving it.<\/p>\n

Farm Wagon is open and available to anyone in need with no requirements except to be there before we close! Food passed out are heavy on produce and other non-perishables. They are run as a drive-thru, with no need to exit your vehicle. Lines can be long, but portions are generous!<\/p>\n

Hope for Heroes is a program for Veterans or their surviving spouse, where they can use our food pantry once per month, forever! October saw over 700 unique Veterans use this program. Just need to bring a military ID or DD214 (discharge papers).<\/p>\n

Community Cupboard is our on-site food pantry, that requires a food voucher (no exceptions!). Food Bank users are allowed up to 10lbs of frozen meat (if desired), and the remainder of their voucher weight can be used on dry goods. The food pantry also has unlimited bakery and produce items, as well as an allotment of government commodity food items. You may receive one voucher per month, and are acquired by calling area non-profits and churches.<\/p>\n
