Indiana Michigan Power Awards $5,000 Grant to Support Dolly Parton\u2019s Imagination Library of Allen County<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fort Wayne, Indiana (October 29, 2025) \u2013 Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) has awarded a $5,000 grant to the Allen County Public Library Foundation in support of Dolly Parton\u2019s Imagination Library of Allen County. The program provides children from birth to age five with free, high-quality, age-appropriate books mailed directly to their homes each month\u2014helping foster early literacy, learning readiness, and a lifelong love of reading.<\/p>\n

The grant will help sustain and expand access to Dolly Parton\u2019s Imagination Library for families throughout Allen County. Since launching locally in 2024, the program has already made a measurable impact on early childhood literacy and community engagement \u2013 serving more than 8,000 children with more than 60,000 books.<\/p>\n

\u201cAccess to books in the early years is a key indicator to a child\u2019s future educational success and prepares children to enter kindergarten ready to learn to read,\u201d said ACPL Executive Director Susan P. Baier. \u201cWe are tremendously grateful for the generous support of Indiana Michigan Power. Every day, we add children to our program and gifts like this make it possible to continue to grow and serve the children of Allen County.\u201d<\/p>\n

About the Allen County Public Library<\/strong>
\nThe Allen County Public Library (ACPL) has fostered lifelong learning and discovery in northeast Indiana for more than 135 years. The ACPL consists of fourteen branches throughout Allen County, serving more than one million visitors per year. The ACPL\u2019s collection includes more than 3.9 million items, with a circulation total of 4.6 million items borrowed annually. It also houses The Genealogy Center, the nation\u2019s largest public genealogy research center, and The Rolland Center for Lincoln Research, consisting of more than 30,000 artifacts related to President Abraham Lincoln.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
