Fort Wayne, Indiana (November 3, 2025) \u2013 During the first week of November, the Parkview Packnett Family Cancer Institute will host a striking educational display. A pair of giant, inflatable lungs will serve to call attention to National Lung Cancer Screening Day, which takes place on November 8, 2025.<\/p>\n

Parkview Health is proud to support this nationwide awareness and screening effort by offering lung cancer screenings for individuals at risk. The event is intended to increase access to screening by providing more scheduling options for those who find it challenging to book appointments during the week.<\/p>\n

Early detection is important<\/strong>
\nAccording to the American Cancer Society, lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S. \u2013 more than breast, prostate and colorectal cancers combined. Lung cancer develops quietly, with symptoms typically not appearing until the disease is already advanced. However, there is good news: Studies have shown that lung cancer has a much better survival rate when found at an early stage with lung cancer screening scans.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t overemphasize the importance of lung screening to identify cancers early when they are more easily treated and cured,\u201d said Dr. Alan Yahanda, president, Packnett Family Cancer Institute, Parkview Health. \u201cParkview has committed to making lung cancer screening easy and convenient with 11 sites open on Saturday, November 8. If you are between the ages of 50 and 77, a current smoker, or you quit within the past 15 years, consider getting a life-saving lung cancer screening scan.\u201d<\/p>\n

Recently, because early detection saves lives, Parkview Health launched a campaign to encourage individuals to schedule routine screenings for lung, breast and other cancers. The campaign, \u201cShow Up For Them,\u201d is grounded in the observation that many people are faithful about showing up to support family members, friends and community day in and day out, but they may not care for themselves with the same level of dedication. Getting screened for cancer is an important self-care step that could save a person\u2019s life so they can keep being there for the special people and causes that are dear to them.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlease speak with your primary care provider to get an order for a lung cancer screening scan and show up for those you love!\u201d Yahanda noted.<\/p>\n

Making screening more convenient<\/strong>
\nParkview\u2019s SmartLung CT screening uses a low-dose CT scan to detect lung cancer early on, when it is more treatable. The screening is quick, non-invasive and takes less than 15 minutes.<\/p>\n

On Nov. 8, lung cancer screenings will be available at these Parkview facilities across northern Indiana and northwest Ohio:<\/p>\n
