African Food Festival returning to Fort Wayne<\/strong><\/p>\n
Local people interested in fine food and culture will be able to taste the African continent at the African Food Festival, during the Annual African Food Festival, scheduled from 12 noon to 5 p.m., July 31 at 3326 S. Calhoun Street, across from South Side Natatorium.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Now in its 10th year, the festival centers around the rich and diverse offerings of authentic African cuisine.<\/p>\n
“It was created out from a need to reach out not to only African people but the community to know about African food and culture,” Fey Fey Moussou, festival coordinator said.<\/p>\n
The festival will offer dishes from various nationalities.<\/p>\n
“We have more than a dozen different African nationalities that will be represented,” said Moussou, who was born in Benin, West Africa but grew up in Senegal.<\/p>\n
The festival, which is free and open to the public, initially grew out of St. Augustine Lutheran Church, which boasts a large African congregation representing 15 or 16 nationalities, said Moussou.<\/p>\n
In addition to food, the festival will feature music, art and cultural activities including a speaker.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
