City of Fort Wayne participating in \u201cZero Weeks\u201d screening<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fort Wayne, Indiana (June 11, 2019) \u2013 A year after Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry announced a policy providing paid parental leave for city employees, City of Fort Wayne leaders will take part in the screening of \u201cZero Weeks,\u201d a documentary exploring paid leave in the United States.<\/p>\n

The film is being shown in partnership with the Indiana Institute for Working Families (IIWF) and AARP Indiana on Tuesday, June 18, in the auditorium at Manchester University\u2019s Fort Wayne Campus, 10627 Diebold Rd. Check-in and refreshments will be available beginning at 5:30 p.m. and Mayor Henry will welcome attendees before the film starts at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

Erin Macey, senior policy analyst for IIWF, will moderate a post-film panel discussion with Dr. Tony GiaQuinta, president of the American Academy of Pediatrics Indiana Chapter; Addison Pollock, associate state director of advocacy and outreach at AARP Indiana; and Savannah Robinson, director of legal personnel at Barnes & Thornburg LLP and president of Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana (YLNI).
\n\u201cSince we passed paid parental leave, City employees have been able to take some time to focus on caring for their newborns and newly adopted children and have returned to work renewed and recommitted to serving other Fort Wayne families,\u201d said Mayor Henry. \u201cThis has been a great way to attract and retain top talent in the City and to strengthen the physical, mental and economic health of families. We hope other employers in the area will be encouraged to offer similar support to their employees.\u201d
