In honor of September\u2019s National Library Card Sign-Up Month, the Allen County Public Library will hold a kickoff celebration with the Fort Wayne Komets on September 2, 2025.<\/p>\n

ACPL to Offer Exclusive Komet Hockey Library Card and Community Discounts in Celebration of Library Card Sign-Up Month<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fort Wayne, Indiana (August 28, 2025) \u2013 In honor of September\u2019s National Library Card Sign-Up Month, the Allen County Public Library (ACPL) held a kickoff celebration with the Fort Wayne Komets on September 2, 2025 at the ACPL Tecumseh Branch. At the kickoff, the Library will unveil its newest limited-edition library card featuring none other than the beloved Fort Wayne Komets mascot, Icy D. Eagle.<\/p>\n

To add to the celebration, the ACPL will also announce that all ACPL cardholders will now have access to exclusive discounts at a variety of local businesses, including restaurants, entertainment venues, service providers, and more available to ACPL cardholders.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re excited to celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month with a fun, local twist,\u201d said Chris Ford, Marketing Manager for the ACPL. \u201cIcy D. Eagle is a beloved symbol of Fort Wayne, and we\u2019re proud to partner with the Komets to encourage even more people to discover the power of a library card. With the new discounts and a card this cool, there\u2019s never been a better time to sign up.\u201d<\/p>\n

The kickoff will feature a photo opp and Storytime program with Komets players and Icy. The media are invited to attend, take photos, and conduct interviews with Library and Komets representatives.<\/p>\n

ACPL library cards are free to all Allen County residents and individuals who attend or work at a school in Allen County. Residents outside of the county can also access ACPL services through a subscription card with a modest annual fee. \nThe Allen County Public Library (ACPL) has fostered lifelong learning and discovery in northeast Indiana for more than 135 years. The ACPL consists of fourteen branches throughout Allen County, serving more than one million visitors per year. The ACPL\u2019s collection includes more than 3.9 million items, with a circulation total of 4.6 million items borrowed annually. It also houses The Genealogy Center, the nation\u2019s largest public genealogy research center, and The Rolland Center for Lincoln Research, consisting of more than 30,000 artifacts related to President Abraham Lincoln.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
