Harrison Street.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Tom Henry and the Community Development Division led today\u2019s launch of the demolition process.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of last year, the Fort Wayne City Council voted 8-0 to approve funding for the demolition of the former Pepsi distribution facility near downtown Fort Wayne.<\/p>\n<p>In May 2022, the Fort Wayne Redevelopment Commission acquired the 7-plus acre distribution facility located at 1207 N. Harrison St. for $4.5 million. The vision for this property is a mixed-use center of activity that provides a more compatible use for the adjacent neighborhoods, supports public investment in the Riverfront public space, and brings additional private investment into the city.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dRiverfront development continues to be  a shining star bringing residents and visitors alike to enjoy recreation, shopping, dining, employment, and more,\u201d said Mayor Henry. \u201cI\u2019m looking forward to what this important parcel of land will be able to do for our community and region.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDemolition of the warehouse facility is an important next step in the implementation of the community\u2019s vision for an active, vibrant Riverfront,\u201d said Jonathan Leist, Director of Redevelopment.  We look forward to working with the neighborhood, private development, and other key stakeholders to bring the community\u2019s Riverfront vision to fruition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In August 2023, to continue the vision of creating a dynamic riverfront transformation, the City of Fort Wayne\u2019s Redevelopment Department announced the release of a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the site that then led to a Request for Proposals (RFP). Currently, the City is in the process of reviewing submissions.
