On October 1, 2020, at 2130 hours, the Fort Wayne Police Department was the Regency Inn located at 1004 West Coliseum Boulevard, for an unrelated call to service.<\/p>\n

At approximately 9:30 pm officers were at the Regency Inn, 1004 W. Coliseum Blvd, for an unrelated call to service. While conducting their investigation an adult female approached officers and requested assistance retrieving some personal items from the hotel. The female was unrelated to the original investigation. During the interaction an officer noticed signs of possible intoxication and began to question the female driver. The female sped away, struck a vehicle in the parking lot, and fled east bound on Coliseum Blvd. Officers pursued the fleeing vehicle.<\/p>\n

The suspect vehicle traveled east bound on Coliseum Blvd. While crossing the entrance to the intersection of Glenbrook mall 3 vehicles were struck. The suspect vehicle continued east bound on Coliseum Blvd. At the intersection of Coldwater Rd a 5th vehicle was struck, and the suspect vehicle continued through the intersection. The vehicle then drove off the road and struck a utility pole approximately 50 yards east of the intersection at Coldwater Rd. and Coliseum Blvd.<\/p>\n

The female driver in the suspect vehicle was trapped and parts of the vehicle had to be removed to extract her and render aid. The female sustained life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital. She later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The drivers of the other 5 vehicles did not sustain any reported injuries at this time.<\/p>\n

Fatal Accident Crash Team was called to the scene to conduct an investigation. All lanes of traffic were limited to travel during the investigation. East bound traffic on Coliseum Blvd at Coldwater Rd was closed, along with south bound traffic. Lanes started to open up around 12:15 AM.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

All criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.<\/p>\n
