High-speed broadband now available for under-connected Allen County communities through Lakeland Internet<\/strong> <\/p>\n

Fort Wayne, Indiana (July 29, 2025) – The Allen County Board of Commissioners celebrated a major milestone in a broader infrastructure project to deliver state-of-the-art, high-speed internet access to southern and eastern Allen County. Lakeland Internet, a trusted local provider based in Northeast Indiana, utilized Tarana next generation fixed wireless technology to expand internet access eligibility to approximately 61,685 addresses in Allen County.<\/p>\n

In a joint statement, the Allen County Commissioners shared, \u201cPartnering with Lakeland Internet allowed us to leverage $1.2 million of the county\u2019s ARPA dollars to impact tens of thousands of rural residents located along the southern and eastern regions of our county.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor those who now have access to previously unavailable fast, reliable internet, this opportunity has the potential to be life-changing as well as transformative for local businesses. This is digital inclusion in action. As commissioners, we are thrilled by this public-private partnership and the positive implications it has for economic development, education, healthcare, and public safety.\u201d<\/p>\n

The initial project rollout offers the strongest connectivity, internet speeds of up to 500mbps, in the following areas: Roanoke, Yoder, Zanesville, Ossian, Poe, Hoagland, Monroeville, Edgerton, Woodburn, Harlan, Leo-Cedarville, and Spencerville. Lakeland will offer complimentary site evaluations for residents, as availability varies by exact location.<\/p>\n

Residents who registered through Lakeland\u2019s pre-sign process will receive priority installation. Businesses and households who have not yet requested access are encouraged to do so quickly, so that they might receive installation as soon as possible. Lakeland will cover the cost of home installations and equipment for addresses enrolled in its Premier and Ultimate packages.<\/p>\n

Lakeland Operations Manager Joshua Garman said, \u201cThe rollout is a significant achievement for our team and a win for the communities we serve. We measure our success, not in dollars and cents, but in the difference we make in everyday lives. Hearing directly from residents and businesses who are excited to finally have a local provider who puts people first \u2013 that\u2019s what drives us. I\u2019m proud of the work our team has done to expand access to high-speed internet across Allen County.\u201d<\/p>\n

To encourage awareness of Lakeland Internet\u2019s expanded access, Lakeland will credit customers $50 for each referral which leads to a new customer sign up.<\/p>\n

Garman added, \u201cA modern connection is essential to modern life. People will often choose not to live in an area because their only internet service options prove slow and unreliable. Our network eliminates that barrier, allowing customers to live where they choose without sacrificing an essential fast and reliable connection.<\/p>\n

\u201cBe on the lookout for Lakeland work trucks and vans in neighborhoods across Allen County as the installation process begins in earnest. Residents have a new neighbor committed to making their life better!\u201d<\/p>\n

Lakeland Internet will open its first Fort Wayne field office next month, a strategic move designed to support local hiring, improve dispatch efficiency, and strengthen community engagement. Located at 400 W Main Street, the office will serve as a base for field technicians and provide an in-person option for customers who wish to inquire about service, pay bills, or exchange equipment.<\/p>\n

Allen County commissioners remain in conversation with Lakeland about a potential phase two to the project, which will require constructing additional infrastructure to service the remaining portions of Allen County.<\/p>\n
