City of New Haven Unveils Newest Segment of the Lincoln Highway Trail<\/strong><\/p>\n

New Haven, Indiana (July 21, 2025) \u2014 Grab your sneakers, New Haven is celebrating its newest trail segment.<\/p>\n

The Lincoln Highway Trail, named after the transcontinental roadway that goes through 12 states between New York City and San Francisco, was created to encourage citizens and visitors alike to enjoy New Haven\u2019s amenities while getting active. Funded by the city\u2019s economic redevelopment commission, the $1.78 million trail is one facet of an overarching plan to further the city\u2019s mission to make New Haven an even greater place to live, work, play and visit by increasing connectivity throughout the city.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so proud to unveil the Lincoln Highway Trail to the community,\u201d said New Haven Mayor Steve McMichael. \u201cThe New Haven team has big goals for our great city. One of those goals is to continue the momentum of progress while reflecting on our history and this trail does exactly that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The trail runs parallel to the historic Lincoln Highway, with plans to expand south along Minnich Road and eventually connect to Fields of Grace. Once complete, it will offer a free, accessible link to upcoming developments, increasing connectivity and access across the city.<\/p>\n

Beyond recreation, the trail also supports safer pedestrian movement throughout the area, serving as a practical transportation route for foot traffic. This new trail segment is one more part of an ever-growing effort to increase connectivity in New Haven, including future trail segments along highway 930, and Maplecrest road as well as a bike lane from Broadway Street to just east of the intersection of Highway 930 and Lincoln Highway (known locally as “The Point.”)<\/p>\n

“We are excited about the completion of this trail segment. We encourage everyone to come out, ride their bikes, go for a walk or run and enjoy the trail. Bicyclists, runners and walkers are already using it, and we know that it will be used even more once the trail segment along Minnich Road is completed next year. This new trail segment is another example of how New Haven keeps moving forward,” said Mayor McMichael.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
