What’s Happening at the Botanical Conservatory in June<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

$1 Night<\/strong>: June 3 On the first Thursday of the month we offer $1 admissions, 5-8 pm. Visit during those hours and pay only $1 per person, adult or child. (Babies and up to age 2 still admitted free.)<\/p>\n

June Plant Swap<\/strong>: June 5, 10 – 11 am
\nJoin other gardeners at the Conservatory for a free exchange of plants. Set aside extra seedlings, divisions, or full-grown plants of any type, then bring them down to swap for something new. Plants should be healthy, separated into “individual servings,” and labeled with either the common or botanical name. When you arrive you’ll receive a number indicating the order of your turn, and we all take turns picking until all the plants have found new homes. Bring a box or bag in which to carry your plants home. The plant swap is free, but phone reservations are required by June 2. Call 427-6442 with questions or to reserve a spot.<\/p>\n

Botanical Brew & Q<\/strong>: June 13, 4 – 8 pm
\nDid you know that there are 23 categories of beer and 78 subcategories of beer? Well you do now and we’re going to show you the basics of how beer is made. Local home brewers will demonstrate their passion while you enjoy samples of micro brews and learn about the some of the history of brewing in Fort Wayne. You’ll also be able to enjoy great live music and buy some local award winning BBQ for dinner. Free root beer floats! At 5:30 p.m. we’ll announce the winners of our Botanical Brew Competition and hold the Best of Show judging. Admission is $5\/adult, $3 child age 3-17, free for children 2 and under. Butterflies & Fairies Exhibit<\/strong>: Through June 27
\nHelp the Conservatory celebrate the winged wonders of the butterfly world, and enter the mysterious realm of fairies, too. The butterflies are confined to the chrysalis hatching lab and the display tent, but fairies travel beyond the limits of the imagination! Inside the tent, you can watch a variety of butterflies feeding among the impatiens, floating lazily on the air, and basking in the sun. Outside the tent, visitors can search for hidden fairy homes and gathering spots, decode a fairy message, and even dress in wings for photos. Enjoy our fanciful garden setting, linger in the relaxing butterfly display, and search for evidence of the Fair Folk. Sponsored by 97.3 WMEE, WFWA PBS 39, and Media 401. Art Exhibits & Receptions<\/strong>: Through June 30
\nKaren Musgrave – Fiber\/Mixed Media
\nKaren is a quilt maker, mask maker, teacher, speaker, writer, and curator whose interest is in forging a connection between America and other cultures through quilt making. Her work has been exhibited internationally and is in many private collections. She is also fascinated with masks and how they allow us to act out and act up, lose ourselves in a role, and find parts of ourselves we might otherwise never know.<\/p>\n
