Downtown Fort Wayne Files Reauthorization Petition for a 10-year Renewal of the Economic Improvement District<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fort Wayne, Indiana (July 16, 2025) \u2013 Downtown Fort Wayne filed a petition necessary to reauthorize its Economic Improvement District (EID) for another 10-year term. The filing of the petition marks a key milestone in continuing the enhanced services and programs that have supported Downtown\u2019s growth and vibrancy for the past three decades.<\/p>\n

With clear support from property owners within the district, the petition will now be formally submitted to the Fort Wayne City Clerk\u2019s Office. From there, it will move to the Fort Wayne City Council for consideration and final approval.<\/p>\n

\u201cDowntown Fort Wayne provides vital services in our community and is a key partner in our ongoing Downtown revitalization efforts,\u201d said Mayor Sharon Tucker. \u201cThe City of Fort Wayne is a strong supporter of Downtown Fort Wayne and values the partnership and collaboration between the two entities that\u2019s positioning our city for current and future success as a fun, family-friendly, and safe community.\u201d<\/p>\n

First established in 1995 and reauthorized by property owners and the Fort Wayne City Council every 10 years since, the EID provides essential Downtown services, including public space maintenance, safety ambassador programming, small business support, placemaking, marketing, and event activation. The reauthorized EID will include an expanded district footprint and continue with the same assessment rate of 1.5 mills per $1,000 of Gross Assessed Value.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe support we’ve received from property owners and our community partners speaks volumes about the value the EID brings to our urban core,\u201d said Downtown Fort Wayne Interim President & CEO Bob Walters. \u201cFrom Clean & Safe services to business activation and community events, the EID allows us to provide a level of service and investment that goes well beyond what the City alone can offer.\u201d<\/p>\n
