Petru-Razvan Bruma, 40 years old, a citizen of the United Kingdom and a California resident, was found guilty of possessing device-making equipment after a three-day jury trial.<\/p>\n

California Man Convicted at Trial For Possessing Device-Making Equipment<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fort Wayne, Indiana (July 17, 2025) \u2013 Petru-Razvan Bruma, 40 years old, a citizen of the United Kingdom and a California resident, was found guilty of possessing device-making equipment after a three-day jury trial presided over by United States District Court Chief Judge Holly A. Brady, announced Acting United States Attorney M. Scott Proctor.<\/p>\n

This case involved the defendant\u2019s possession of shimmer devices and pinhole cameras installed on two local automatic teller machines. These items were designed to capture the card numbers and personal identification numbers of bank customers.<\/p>\n

\u201cBruma traveled into this District with devices made to steal personal bank information from unsuspecting ATM customers,\u201d said Proctor. \u201cThanks to excellent work by our team of investigators and prosecutors, he was charged and convicted for his conduct. This should send a clear message: If you come to Northern Indiana to commit crimes, you will be held accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sentencing is scheduled for August 13, 2025. Any specific sentence to be imposed will be determined by the District Court Judge after consideration of federal statutes and the United States Sentencing Guidelines.<\/p>\n

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the United States Secret Service, and the Fort Wayne Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Lesley Miller Lowery and Justin Sheridan.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
