Governor Braun Ends DEI Initiatives, Prioritizes \u201cLevel Playing Field of Merit, Excellence, and Innovation\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Indianapolis, Indiana (July 9, 2025) \u2013 Governor Mike Braun today released a report on his administration\u2019s progress to replace the divisive DEI political ideology with the level playing field of MEI \u2014 Merit, Excellence, and Innovation. This report is the fulfillment of the Governor\u2019s directive in his January 14, 2025, Executive Order 25-14<\/a>.<\/p>\n

DEI mandates are divisive and often lead to inefficiency by focusing decisions on a political goal rather than on the goal of achieving the best outcomes for Hoosier taxpayers.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndiana has replaced the divisive, politically-charged DEI ideology with Merit, Excellence, and Innovation: a level playing field where every single Hoosier has the chance to get ahead with hard work.\u201d – Governor Mike Braun<\/p>\n

The executive order directed executive state agencies to review their DEI positions, departments, activities, procedures, and programs for compliance with the decision in Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President and Fellows of Harvard College, a landmark Supreme Court case regarding race-based admissions and an update on how those programs have been revised or eliminated to comply with the executive order.<\/p>\n
