Open Streets Fort Wayne returns for 6th Year on August 20<\/strong>
\nOpen Streets turn streets into meeting places, places to socialize and places to play along the Calhoun Corridor<\/em><\/p>\n

Fort Wayne, Indiana (June 29, 2023) \u2013 Open Streets Fort Wayne will return on Sunday, August 20, 12:00 \u2013 4:00 p.m. for the sixth year. The free, community, people-powered event will provide participants with a safe space to bike, walk and play along more than 20 blocks. There will be something for people of all ages and cultures to enjoy together with games, music, food and much more planned. The Knight Foundation is the presenting sponsor of this year\u2019s Open Streets Fort Wayne.<\/p>\n

\u201cOpen Streets has become a yearly tradition that residents and visitors look forward to as we create a unique and welcoming environment for the public to enjoy,\u201d said Mayor Tom Henry. \u201cOur vibrant and growing downtown and surrounding neighborhoods have so much to offer. Open Streets is a great way for individuals and families to explore Fort Wayne\u2019s outstanding quality of life amenities and meet new people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are so excited to bring Open Streets back for its 6th year and can\u2019t wait to show you what we\u2019ve been working on. With over 20 blocks of Calhoun Street to explore, and things to experience every step of the way, there is truly something for everyone at Open Streets. This event shines as a celebration of our community and the infrastructure that connects us, so grab your wheels or walking shoes and join us on August 20th,\u201d said Neil Miller, Primary Organizer: Open Streets.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s theme is \u201cBeat of the Street\u201d with musical performers and a live \u201csoundtrack\u201d of the event provided in partnership with 95.7 WELT. Organizers want attendees to feel the energy of music as they explore the corridor.<\/p>\n

Many of the returning favorites include the bubble machine, BMX show, blender bike, and more.<\/p>\n

Open Streets Fort Wayne is a unique way to get some exercise, socialize with new and old friends, visit the businesses on historic Calhoun and enjoy free activities along the route.<\/p>\n
