South Bend, Indiana (June 24, 2023) – The TinCaps took a lead three batters into the game, but ultimately the South Bend Cubs prevailed, 4-1, at Four Winds Field on a hot Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Center fielder Jakob Marsee (No. 22 Padres prospect) hit a one-out single in the top of the first inning and stole second base. Third baseman Marcos Casta\u00f1on promptly singled him in with a knock to left-center field. But after that, Fort Wayne (1-1, 33-35) failed to score again.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, South Bend (1-1, 31-36) scored twice in the fourth, once in the fifth, and once again in the sixth.<\/p>\n

The ‘Caps threatened in the ninth, bringing the tying run to the plate, but Joe Nahas saved the game.<\/p>\n

Marsee and Casta\u00f1on each finished with two hits. However, all six TinCaps hits in the game were singles. Conversely, the Cubs tallied five doubles and a home run, hit by shortstop Kevin Made (No. 15 Cubs prospect).<\/p>\n
