Fort Wayne, Indiana (April 11, 2023) – TinCaps\u2019 pitchers Bodi Rascon and Ryan Bergert combined for five innings of one-run baseball and Justin Farmer doubled twice, but the Lake County Captains (Cleveland Guardians affiliate) took advantage of three seventh inning walks to spoil Fort Wayne\u2019s home opener, 3-1, on a beautiful Tuesday night at Parkview Field.<\/p>\n

Lake County opened the scoring with a two-out RBI single in the fourth from catcher Micael Ramirez. The visitors added two more in the seventh to extend their lead to 3-0.<\/p>\n

Farmer, the TinCaps\u2019 left fielder, notched his first two hits of the season, driving in third basemen Marcos Casta\u00f1on with two outs in the ninth inning on his second two-bagger for the only Fort Wayne run.<\/p>\n

Rascon tossed three shutout innings and tallied five punchouts in his first start this year, while Bergert allowed just one earned run in two innings of relief.<\/p>\n

Flamethrower Jos\u00e9 Geraldo and righty Adam Smith teamed up to shutout the Captains over the final three innings.<\/p>\n

A crowd of 4,341 flocked to Parkview Field to take advantage of the unseasonably warm weather.<\/p>\n
