Game On: The 46th Annual Senior Games Begin<\/strong>
\nFort Wayne Parks and Recreation Invites Adults 50+ to Join the Fun<\/em><\/p>\n

Fort Wayne, Indiana (June 2, 2025) \u2013 Fort Wayne Mayor Sharon Tucker joined Parks and Recreation Director Steve McDaniel this morning at the Community Center to officially launch the 46th Annual Senior Games. This long-running event invites adults aged 50 and older to compete, connect and celebrate healthy living at locations throughout the city through July 2.<\/p>\n

During the opening ceremony, Mayor Tucker presented a proclamation recognizing the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department\u2019s ongoing dedication to enhancing the lives of older adults through high-quality, inclusive programming.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s encouraging to see so many individuals getting involved in activities that promote recreation, education, and social connection,\u201d said Mayor Tucker. \u201cParks and Recreation is doing a great job in partnering with my administration to help provide an enhanced quality of life for all residents by being a fun, family-friendly, and safe community. Let\u2019s keep the momentum going as we continue to invest in people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Senior Games are one of our most cherished traditions,\u201d said Steve McDaniel, Director of Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation. \u201cIt\u2019s more than competition\u2014it\u2019s about wellness, friendships and a sense of belonging. We\u2019re proud to offer something for everyone, whether you’re new to an activity or a returning champion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Registration remains open and is accepted up to two business days before each event. Each registration is just $2. While some events like Pickleball may be more physically demanding, many others are accessible to a wide range of interests and abilities, including card games, Shuffleboard, Billiards and Timed Jigsaw Puzzles.<\/p>\n

More than 50 volunteers help organize and support the Senior Games each year, making this community event both welcoming and successful.<\/p>\n

Since its start in 1979, the Senior Games have encouraged older adults to stay active, engaged and connected. Modeled after the Olympics, the Games feature over 40 events including Mini Golf, Cornhole, Archery, Bocce, Bowling, Horseshoes, Chip & Putt, Disc Golf, Softball Throw, Table Tennis and more.<\/p>\n
