Planning a Fall Vegetable Garden<\/strong>, Thursday, June 3, 6 – 7:30 pm
\nEphraim Smiley returns to the Conservatory! In this sure-to-be-entertaining program, he will\u00c2\u00a0share the basics of interplanting and succession planting. You will also discover which plants love the cool weather and develop a timeline for your fall gardening. With the tips and tricks from this class, you could be harvesting vegetables until the first snowfall. Ages 12+. Registration deadline: May 28. Fee: $14, Conservatory Member Fee: $12.<\/p>\n

Butterfly Gardening Workshop<\/strong>, Saturday, June 19, 9:30 – 11 am
\nLove butterflies? Enter their world of light and color as Jody Heaston, owner of Naturally Speaking & Wildlifescaping, shows you how to start your own butterfly garden. You will learn the\u00c2\u00a0different plants and items that can be added to a garden to attract these wondrous insects and\u00c2\u00a0explore ways to cater to their needs throughout their life cycles. Each participant will also make\u00c2\u00a0a simple butterfly feeder to help get your garden off to a good start. Ages 16+. Registration deadline: June 11. Fee: $16, Conservatory Member Fee: $13.<\/p>\n

Botanical Brown Bag<\/strong>
\nBring a sandwich and stop in at the Conservatory for an entertaining “garden moment” on\u00c2\u00a0the last Thursday of each month. Speakers offer interactive programs on a variety of botanical or ecological topics. While you eat, pick up some new ideas and skills! Free coffee and tea. Conservatory admission applies: $5\/adult, $3\/child ages 3-17. (Members free.)<\/p>\n

Iris Folding<\/strong>: June 24, 12 – 1 pm
\nIris folding uses strips of colored paper, carefully placed in a spiraling pattern like the iris of\u00c2\u00a0a camera, to produce a wonderful artistic effect. In this program, Conservatory volunteer Helen Bunnell will guide you as you make your own iris folded greeting card with a charming butterfly motif, perfect for sending to a friend or hanging on your wall.<\/p>\n
