Flaggers will maintain traffic control throughout the project while lanes are<br \/>\nbeing paved.<\/p>\n<p>Funding for this added travel lanes project is through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.<\/p>\n<p>This restriction takes place on the heels of Highway Work Zone Safety Awareness Week, an annual event to remind motorists of work zone hazards. The awareness campaign promotes safety in work zones by advising drivers to slow down, minimize distractions, and allow ample time to reach destinations.<\/p>\n<p>In 2009, 700 people were killed nationwide in work zones. Most of the fatalities were not highway workers but drivers.
