One night after the TinCaps threw a combined no-hitter, Dylan Lesko matched his Minor League Baseball career high with nine strikeouts, but the Great Lakes Loons defeated Fort Wayne, 7-4, on Saturday night at Dow Diamond.<\/p>\n

Lesko Strikes Out Nine, But Loons Win<\/strong><\/p>\n

Midland, Michigan (July 13, 2024) \u2013 One night after the TinCaps threw a combined no-hitter, Dylan Lesko matched his Minor League Baseball career high with nine strikeouts, but the Great Lakes Loons (Dodgers affiliate) defeated Fort Wayne, 7-4, on Saturday night at Dow Diamond.<\/p>\n

Facing the top left-handed pitching prospect for the Dodgers, Jackson Ferris, Fort Wayne (8-12, 36-50) took a 2-0 lead in the second inning. Catcher Anthony Vilar led off with a walk to extend his on-base streak to 11 games. After left fielder Nick Vogt doubled, designated hitter Griffin Doersching drove Vilar in with a groundout and second baseman Nerwilian Cede\u00f1o singled Vogt home.<\/p>\n

Lesko struck out the side in the first, however, Great Lakes (8-11, 42-43) scratched across a run without a hit in the second. The Loons then equalized in the third and went ahead, 4-2, with a pair of runs in the fifth. Lesko threw 92 pitches (53 strikes) over five frames. The Loons added two more in the sixth.<\/p>\n

Ferris, who was traded from the Cubs before the season, struck out eight over six quality innings.<\/p>\n

TinCaps right fielder Joshua Mears powered an opposite-field two-run homer in the top of the seventh to cut the deficit down to 6-4. It was his fourth homer of the season with the ‘Caps, and first to right field.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, Great Lakes tacked on an extra insurance run in the home seventh.<\/p>\n

The TinCaps, who won three of the first four games in the set, have another chance to win the series Sunday before a four-day break around MLB’s All-Star Game.<\/p>\n
