Parkview Health negotiating with Anthem to secure continued affordable, high-quality care for Indiana patients<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fort Wayne, Indiana (April 29, 2025) \u2013 Parkview Health is actively working to reach a fair and timely agreement with Anthem before the expiration of the two parties\u2019 current contract on July 31, 2025. As negotiations progress, Parkview remains committed to providing affordable, high-quality healthcare and ensuring access to services throughout Fort Wayne and beyond. The current contract is not applicable to Parkview facilities or providers in Ohio.<\/p>\n

“Looking ahead to 2028, our proposal to Anthem continues the cuts to our hospital rates that we made in 2020 and would allow Anthem patients to pay less for their care in 2028 than they did in 2019,\u201d said Dr. Jason Row, chief value transformation officer at Parkview Health. \u201cThis is something we\u2019re proud to offer \u2013 10 years of sustained rate reductions, especially when the cost of delivering care is on the rise. It\u2019s a commitment to affordability that very few organizations have made.”<\/p>\n

Parkview\u2019s focus is on maintaining a fair and sustainable contract that reflects the work they\u2019ve done to reduce the cost of care for patients. The goal is to ensure that patients continue to have access to top-tier care, and they believe this can be achieved without putting an unfair financial burden on those who rely on our services.<\/p>\n

“For the past five years, Parkview has worked to reduce healthcare costs for our patients, giving back more than $1.1 billion in rate reductions to commercial payors, yet employers did not see those savings,\u201d Dr. Row added. \u201cWe’ve taken meaningful steps to lower expenses while ensuring the high-quality care on which our community relies. Unfortunately, Anthem has not been as proactive in this effort, and it\u2019s important that we continue to push for an agreement that benefits the people we serve \u2013 not just a one-sided arrangement that reduces access for seniors with Medicare Advantage plans and adds even more profits for Anthem\u2019s shareholders.”<\/p>\n
