THIS COMBINED WITH RECENT RAINFALL AND SATURATED GROUND CONDITIONS WILL CAUSE FLOODING ALONG THE SAINT JOSEPH RIVER OHIO BELOW MONTPELIER AND ABOVE NEWVILLE&#8230;AND THE TIFFIN RIVER NEAR STRYKER. IF CURRENT PRECIPITATION FORECASTS HOLD&#8230;MODERATE FLOODING WILL BE POSSIBLE BY SATURDAY ALONG THE SAINT JOSEPH RIVER OHIO&#8230;AND BY EARLY NEXT WEEK ALONG THE TIFFIN RIVER NEAR STRYKER.<\/p>\n<p>PRECAUTIONARY\/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>SAFETY MESSAGE&#8230;NEVER DRIVE VEHICLES THROUGH FLOODED AREAS.  THE WATER MAY BE TOO DEEP TO ALLOW SAFE PASSAGE. NEVER ALLOW CHILDREN TO PLAY IN OR NEAR FLOOD WATERS. THIS STATEMENT WILL BE UPDATED IN ABOUT 24 HOURS&#8230;SOONER IF NECESSARY.<\/p>\n<p>[&#8230;] THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN NORTHERN INDIANA HAS ISSUED A<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>FLOOD WARNING FOR THE SAINT JOSEPH RIVER OHIO ABOVE NEWVILLE<\/li>\n<li>FROM THURSDAY EVENING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.<\/li>\n<li>AT 9 PM WEDNESDAY THE STAGE WAS 10.7 FEET AND RISING.<\/li>\n<li>MODERATE FLOODING IS FORECAST.<\/li>\n<li>FLOOD STAGE IS 12.0 FEET.<\/li>\n<li>FORECAST&#8230;THE RIVER WILL RISE ABOVE FLOOD STAGE THURSDAY NIGHT AND CREST NEAR 14.3 FEET AROUND  8 AM MONDAY MAY 17.<\/li>\n<li>AT 14.0 FEET&#8230;SIGNIFICANT FLOODING OCCURS ON DEKALB COUNTY ROAD 42 ABOUT 3 MILES NORTHEAST OF NEWVILLE. CONSIDERABLE AGRICULTURAL AND LOW LAND FLOODING OCCURS ALONG THE ST.
