To help homeowners prevent freezing pipes, the Utility is offering the following tips:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Run a small trickle of lukewarm water &#8211; to protect your water meter and pipes. The flow should be about the size of a pencil lead.<\/li>\n<li>Keep garage doors closed &#8211; if your water meter is located there, as this helps retain heat and protect your pipes. <\/li>\n<li>Open cabinet doors &#8211; below sinks, especially those on exterior walls, to allow warmer air to circulate around pipes.<\/li>\n<li>Use a space heater &#8211; to keep warm air circulating near drains and pipes.<\/li>\n<li>Locate your main shut-off valve &#8211; in case of an emergency.
