The Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the report of a residential structure fire in the 300 block of West Williams Street at 2000 hours on January 2, 2025.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Flames were reported as visible from two sides of the residence. Fire units arrived and entered the structure and quickly extinguished a working kitchen fire. Other crews arrived and searched the structure for occupants and pets. All occupants self-evacuated and 3 cats were found but one had perished. The fire was under control in a few minutes, but crews remained on scene for a while checking on hot spots. <\/p>\n

Investigators found the cause to be an accidental cooking fire.<\/p>\n

Assisting at the scene was Neighborhood Code Enforcement, the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, the Fort Wayne Police Department, Indiana Michigan Power, and NIPSCO.<\/p>\n
