The development includes 89 affordable housing units, with 59 of those units restricted to individuals aged 55 and above. Scheduled for delivery in late 2025,The Elex is named after the association of women employed by General Electric, first established in 1916.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHousing costs are high, and across the country, communities are trying to figure out ways to revitalize downtowns and make housing more affordable,\u201d Senator Young said. \u201cThat\u2019s why The Elex is a big win for Fort Wayne. The public-private partnerships that have made Electric Works a reality can serve as a model for communities looking to increase housing options and improve their quality of place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Electric Works leaders have created a multi-phased vision to develop a vibrant campus with 18 hours of activities and amenities. In line with this vision, The Elex will provide retail and restaurant space in addition to the apartments, early childhood learning center, and health and wellness services. Residents of The Elex will also have convenient access to all existing campus amenities, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unionstreetmarket.org\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Union Street Market<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chapmansbrewing.com\/electric-works-fw\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chapman\u2019s Brewing<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/prayerworksfw.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">PrayerWorks<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/fortwayneelectricworks.com\/parking-map\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Union Parking Garage<\/a>, and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Phase 2 of Electric Works, we&#8217;re not just building apartments; we&#8217;re continuing our commitment to building an inclusive district of innovation, energy, and culture,\u201d said Jeff Kingsbury, chief customer officer for Ancora, the lead developer of Electric Works. \u201cThe Elex is a testament to our city\u2019s history, and it should inspire a future where residents can truly live, work, play, and learn on one campus in the heart of Fort Wayne.
