The Fort Wayne Police Department is excited to announce a new partnership with the Trine University Cold Case Unit, which was launched this semester.<\/p>\n

The FWPD Partners with Trine\u2019s Cold Case Unit<\/p>\n

Fort Wayne, Indiana (September 5, 2024) – The Fort Wayne Police Department is excited to announce a new partnership with Trine University. The partnership is with Trine\u2019s Cold Case Unit, which was launched this semester. Cold Cases are unsolved criminal investigations, which remain open pending the discovery of new evidence. The newly formed Unit would assist FWPD\u2019s Homicide detectives with finding this evidence to potentially bring closure to these open homicide cases.<\/p>\n

Chief Caudill is excited about the partnership, stating \u201cThis is a mutually beneficial partnership: the students get to work alongside some of the best, experienced, homicide detectives and we get a Cold Case Unit of highly motivated, intelligent students to comb through cases from an entirely different perspective\u201d.<\/p>\n

The FWPD understands that the victims’ families struggle with closure when homicide cases go unsolved and want to use all available resources to solve crime; and hopefully, help find some closure and peace of mind for the families.<\/p>\n

This Cold Case Unit will be the first university-based unit in the state of Indiana and the FWPD is proud to be a partner in this endeavor. Public Safety is a community responsibility and community partnerships are how we get everyone involved!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
