{"id":1127,"date":"2008-08-27T13:50:49","date_gmt":"2008-08-27T17:50:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/?p=1127"},"modified":"2020-12-25T15:17:02","modified_gmt":"2020-12-25T20:17:02","slug":"new-condo-marketing-plan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/2008\/08\/27\/new-condo-marketing-plan\/","title":{"rendered":"New Condo Marketing Plan?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From <span class=\"removed_link\" title=\"https:\/\/www.indianasnewscenter.com\/news\/local\/27507164.html\">Indiana News Center<\/span>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>By Jeff Neumeyer<br \/>\nStory Published: Aug 26, 2008 at 7:59 PM EDT<br \/>\nStory Updated: Aug 26, 2008 at 9:35 PM EDT<\/p>\n<p>FORT WAYNE, IN (Indiana&#8217;s NewsCenter) &#8212; The Georgia based company that is overseeing the Harrison Square condominium project says it will roll out a brand new marketing effort next week, to try and get the troubled housing complex out of the doldrums.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Jim Irwin with Barry Real Estate out of Atlanta says several new things will be introduced September 2nd, including the fact that a Fort Wayne marketing firm called &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oneluckyguitar.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">One Lucky Guitar<\/a>&#8221; will be producing a new Internet web site to promote the condominiums that are not being sold as quickly as expected.<\/p>\n<p>Irwin says there is no way anyone could have anticipated the tough economy that is causing the condo sales to lag.<\/p>\n<p>But he reiterated the units will get built.<\/p>\n<p>In early July, Barry Real Estate CEO Chris Shoen came to Fort Wayne and suggested a big announcement about the start of construction on the condos would be coming soon.<\/p>\n<p>The President of city council, Tom Didier, says he is waiting for that promise to be delivered on.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They told us point blank at the council table, that they were going to build the condominiums. They&#8217;ve not given me a reason to distrust them yet. I believe Barry Real Estate should come through for what they offered to do, they should come through on this project,&#8221; said Didier.<\/p>\n<p>City Redevelopment Director Greg Leatherman tells Indiana&#8217;s NewsCenter, he believes it is probably no longer realistic to think the condos will be finished by the contractual deadline of June 1st, 2009.<\/p>\n<p>But Leatherman says if substantial progress toward completion is evident next June, andcity attorneys advise that it&#8217;s okay to amend the contract agreement, an extension on the completion date may be worked out.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Scott Spaulding (What&#8217;s Going Down(Town)) points out that the logo on The Harrison (the Condo\/Retail Building) website has changed from Martin Goldstine Knapke to Coldwell Banker Roth Wehrly.\u00c2\u00a0 In the City Council meeting on <a href=\"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/2008\/06\/03\/harrison-square-interest\/\">May 21st 2008<\/a>, Chris Schoen said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230;So we really didn&#8217;t start that process with Bill [Martin Goldstine Knapke], until 45 days back let&#8217;s say.\u00c2\u00a0 In that period of time we&#8217;ve been getting our marketing materials together, getting our sales pitch down, if you will, and we&#8217;re now at the point where we&#8217;re really beginning to convert all those reservations and expressions of interest to hard sales contracts\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I\u00c2\u00a0find it curious that if the problems are all economy-related that a change in the seller would be needed.\u00c2\u00a0 But, remember back to <a href=\"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/2008\/06\/16\/the-harrison-campaign\/\">June 16th<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0when\u00c2\u00a0the new campaign Chris Schoen spoke aboute was rolled out?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a title=\"Postcard announcing an exclusive event at the Summit Club to promote The Harrison&#039;s Condominiums.\" rel=\"lightbox\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/2008_06_18.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/06\/t2008_06_18.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To sum up the feelings of the local blogosphere and others in the community, &#8220;This was the best you could come up with?&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 And since then, no new marketing efforts have been visible.\u00c2\u00a0 Let&#8217;s hope that &#8220;One Lucky Guitar&#8221; has better luck.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">[poll id=&#8221;7&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h3>Related Images:<\/h3><div class=\"ngg-related-gallery\">\n\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/aroundfortwayne.com\/news\/wp-content\/gallery\/fw-redevelopment\/70496.jpg\"\n\t\t\ttitle=\"Jim Irwin, Barry Real Estate, leads a tour of Redevelopment Authority and Commission members around the Parkview Field.
