Allen County residents are being encouraged to protect themselves against certain forms of encephalitis, most notably the West Nile Virus.<\/p>\n

Fort Wayne, Indiana (July 5, 2022) \u2013 Mosquitoes. They\u2019re more than a nuisance.<\/p>\n

The pesky, perturbing pests can transmit diseases such as certain forms of encephalitis \u2013 inflammation of the brain \u2013 and perhaps most notably, West Nile Virus. West Nile is the leading cause of mosquito-borne disease in the continental U.S. and was detected last week by state officials in a sample of the insects collected in Steuben County.<\/p>\n

A human case of the virus was reported in Lake County.<\/p>\n

There, fortunately, are easy ways to control local mosquito populations:<\/p>\n
