Active Aging Week<\/strong>
\nOctober 4-8<\/em>
\nRegister at the Community Center, 233 W. Main Street, 260-427-6460
\nActive Aging Week was initiated by the International Council of Active Aging to celebrate aging and to promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle on a national scale. Similar to other organizations around the world, we are providing multiple activities for older adults. The goal is to share the positive messages of Active Aging Week and to showcase our age-friendly wellness programs. The campaign\u2019s overriding goal is to give as many older adults as possible the means to experience wellness activities and exercise in a safe, friendly and fun atmosphere. There is NO CHARGE for Active Aging Week events, however, pre-registration is required and space is limited. Call 427-6460 or stop by the Community Center to sign up. Registration deadlines are two days prior to each event.<\/p>\n

Pumpkin Path Display<\/strong>

\nWe welcome you to the Pumpkin Path where you may enjoy fall surroundings in our outdoor Exploration Garden decorated in its seasonal best. As part of this interactive display, see if you can outsmart the garden gnomes who are back and more mischievous than before. You are also invited to take part in photo ops and festive activities that reveal the weight of the biggest pumpkin! Included with regular Conservatory admission. Community Inclusive Expo<\/strong>

\nCome play with Three Rivers Visiting therapy dogs, interact with our bubble light machine and sensory toys, make a sensory toy (while supplies last), and play sensory interactive games. Hear from speakers on topics such as gaining employment while having a disability. Visit booths from businesses and organizations that offer services and products to those who have special or adaptive needs. This event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n

$1 Night Insight: Paint a Pumpkin<\/strong>
\nThursday, October 7, 6:00-7:00 p.m.<\/em>
\nBotanical Conservatory, 1100 South Calhoun Street
\nWhat could be cuter than a mini pumpkin painted by the one and only you? You won\u2019t want to miss out on this opportunity that is fun for the whole family! On the first Thursday night of the month, Conservatory admission is just $1, parking is free, and there is a special $1 Night Insight fun themed activity from 6:00- 7:00 p.m. No registration required.<\/p>\n

Trek the Trails: Parkview YMCA Trailhead<\/strong>
\nTuesday, September 28, 6:10 p.m.<\/em>
\nParkview YMCA parking lot behind the playground, 10001 Dawsons Creek Blvd.
\nJoin local trail users for weekly bike rides this summer to experience Fort Wayne on two wheels. Participants are asked to wear helmets and bring water along for the ride. All participants ride at their own risk. Tuesday rides will continue through the fall. Fireside Tales of Terror<\/strong>

\nStroll down the main street of a not-quite-Ghost Town, listen to ragtime tunes from the honky-tonk saloon and appreciate the wild and rugged beauty of cacti, succulents and wildflowers in the surrounding hillsides. Pump water from the community well, play a game of cracker-barrel checkers in the shade and look over the \u201cWANTED\u201d posters for local outlaws. Summer annuals will make way for autumn chrysanthemums in warm russets, tawny golds and blazing orange. Sponsored by the M.E. Raker Foundation and Wilson Foundation.<\/p>\n
