Last year the count reached 75,708 users in June. The Rivergreenway that runs by Promenade Park gained momentum in June as well with 13,610 users, on par with the long popular Pufferbelly Trail by Fox Orchard Run.

Trail usage was down a little in April due to the late season snow, and flooding kept users off the trails in early and mid-May.

Trek the Trails bike rides are averaging 95 participants each week. Residents are invited to join the rides on Tuesday evenings. Riders are asked to arrive at 6:00 p.m. and the trek will begin promptly at 6:10 p.m. Participants should wear helmets and bring along water for the ride.

Upcoming Trek the Trail information:

July 13: Towles Intermediate School parking lot, 420 E. From 1975 to 2005, the Parks Department built the Rivergreenway. In 2005, as interest grew and more residents began using the trails, the current City Greenways and Trails Department moved to the Public Works Division, a fitting move as the community’s view of trails shifted from recreation to active transportation.

Return to the AroundFortWayne home page.

Related Images:

 <a href="https://aroundfortwayne.com/news/wp-content/gallery/cityoffw/71710.jpg"
title="Mayor Tom Henry shakes hands with Allen County Councilman Paul Moss after the press conference announcing his decision to seek a referendum vote on the gaming issue.
