The National Weather Service is forecasting cooler and less humid air will build in behind the front for tonight and Friday with high temperatures on Friday only in the mid-70s.<\/p>\n

Cooler temps and less humidity Friday<\/strong>
\nHigh swim risk on southeast Lake Michigan beaches today and tomorrow<\/em><\/p>\n

Fort Wayne, Indiana (July 1, 2021) – A cold front will track across the region today bringing the potential of a few isolated showers and thunderstorms. Cooler and drier air will build in behind the front for tonight and Friday with high temperatures on Friday only in the mid 70s. Low temperatures tonight and Friday night will drop well into the 50s. Dangerous swimming conditions are expected this afternoon through Friday night for Lake Michigan beaches as waves build to 3 to 6 feet today and to 4 to 8 feet tonight. Waves are expected to diminish to 2 to 4 feet by Friday evening but dangerous currents may linger into Saturday morning. A High Swim Risk in effect for southeast Lake Michigan beaches today through Friday night. Those visiting the beaches should stay out of the water. Stay away from shoreline structures like piers and breakwalls, as waves can wash you off the pier and into the water. Dangerous structural currents along the pier can take you out into deeper waters. Dry weather will persist through the holiday weekend with a sharp warming trend and highs back into the mid and upper 80s by Sunday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
