High school lottery postponed, information meetings set<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The high school lottery scheduled to take place Friday, March 5, has been postponed as Fort Wayne\u00c2\u00a0Community Schools further investigates closing Elmhurst High School. The FWCS Board of School\u00c2\u00a0Trustees and administrators presented closing Elmhurst during a public meeting on Tuesday, March 2,\u00c2\u00a0as part of the $15 million in budget cuts that need to be made.<\/p>\n

Because this change would significantly affect attendance at the high schools, the high school\u00c2\u00a0lottery is being postponed. A new date for the lottery will not be determined until after the School\u00c2\u00a0Board makes a final determination regarding Elmhurst on Monday, March 22. At that time, the district\u00c2\u00a0will determine any changes to the lottery procedure and when the lottery will be held. The middle\u00c2\u00a0school lottery, also scheduled for Friday, March 5, will still take place as scheduled. The\u00c2\u00a0elementary lottery is scheduled for Friday, March 26.<\/p>\n

FWCS has also scheduled three meetings for the community to voice their opinions about the\u00c2\u00a0potential closures and recommendations on the $15 million cuts. The meetings will be as follows:<\/p>\n
