The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department is offering the following February classes for adults at the Community Center, 233 W. Main Street:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Copeland’s Beginning Oils<\/strong>, Mondays, Feb 22 – April 12, 6 – 8:30 pm
\nInstructor Marilyn Copeland, a nationally certified and accredited art instructor, offers you Beginning Oils. This class is for all levels and provides more in-depth instruction on the basics of oil painting. To order a kit (approximately $50) please call Marilyn at 574-834-4768 or bring your own. A Supply list will be provided when you register or may be viewed online at www.fortwayneparks.org. Registration deadline: Feb 15. Fee: $89 per person.<\/p>\n

30 Days of Delicious Cooking<\/strong>, Monday, Feb 22, 6:30 – 8:30 pm
\nTake the stress out of meal preparation by assembling 30 days of delicious, fresh-tasting and nutritious entrees, side dishes and snacks to freeze now and eat later. You’ll save time and money. Instructor Ambia Cooper will show you in just two hours how to accomplish this task. The class fee includes the book “The Freezer Cooking Manual: A Month of Meals Made Easy,” authored by Indiana residents Nanci Slagle and Tara Wohlenhaus. Registration deadline: Feb 15. Fee: $29 per person.<\/p>\n

Canning for Beginners<\/strong>, Tuesday, Feb 23, 6 – 9 pm
\nFor more than a century, home canning has been a popular way to preserve and enjoy homegrown fruits and vegetables, not to mention fresh-caught seafood and other delicacies. It is safe and economical and requires very little equipment. Join instructor Ann Holsinger as she demonstrates the three most common food preservation methods used today: pressure canning, hot bath canning and freezing. Registration deadline: Feb 16. Fee: $23 per person.<\/p>\n

Chair Seat Caning<\/strong>, Wednesdays, Feb 24 – March 24, 5:30 – 6:30 pm
\nIs your old cane chair in need of repair? If the legs are still sturdy and the back is okay, you don’t need to throw it away. We’ll show you how to replace the old seat with a new woven pattern. Caning should be the last step in re-doing the chair. Painting or varnishing should be done in advance, if needed, and your chair must be stripped of cane and have holes around the seat area. A list of required tools and supplies will be provided when you register. For more information, please call the Recovery Room at 426-5010 and ask for Larry. No experience is necessary.
