Details/Summary:

In the midst of celebrating Independence Day, July 04, 2024, Ian Wiggins decided to hurl a firework into a group of people standing nearby. The firework detonated on the hand of an eleven (11) years old female child causing significant burns. She required immediate medical attention and will bear scars from the incident. Mr. Wiggens fled prior to the arrival of the FWPD. Detective Chuck Volz, an investigator assigned to the Crimes Against Persons Section, lead the investigation. Also assisting was FWPD Detective Barry Thompson and a Family Case Manager with the Indiana Department of Child Services. An Arrest Warrant was subsequently approved for Mr. Wiggins. He was apprehended this afternoon by members of the Allen County Warrants Division.
