News release from The Rescue Mission:
The Rescue Mission to host Thanksgiving Meal for Community on November 27, 2024
When: Wednesday, November 27th, 2024
Where: 404 E. Washington Blvd., Fort Wayne, 46802Fort Wayne, Indiana (November 20, 2024) – The Rescue Mission will serve its largest holiday meal on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, hosted at 404 E. Washington Blvd. from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The Thanksgiving meal is free and open to all members of the community and will be available as dine-in, carry-out, and drive-thru. There is a limit of three meals per individual.
“Thanksgiving should be a time of reflection and gratitude; unfortunately, this is not the case for many struggling or homeless in our community,” said Pastor Thomas McArthur, President & CEO of The Rescue Mission. “We are grateful to be able to open our doors and invite the community in for a hot meal and fellowship with one another. We hope we can be a blessing to someone in need this Thanksgiving.”
Last Thanksgiving, more than 4,000 meals were prepared and distributed to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity and homelessness. This year, the number is expected to exceed 5,000, with a continued increase in need in the community and as temperatures drop through the winter.
The Rescue Mission would like to thank Indiana Michigan Power, the meal sponsor, and approximately 123 volunteers for making this Thanksgiving meal possible.
