Update from Mayor Tucker on Fort Wayne UNITED/Ten Point Coalition

Fort Wayne, Indiana (October 17, 2024) – Mayor Sharon Tucker today announced that the Fort Wayne UNITED Steering Committee has decided to move forward with establishing Fort Wayne UNITED, which includes the Ten Point Coalition, as a 501(c)(3) entity.

Over the past several weeks, Mayor Tucker and her administration reviewed the Fort Wayne UNITED initiative and related programming. The review focused on examining policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure the protection of the individuals involved in Fort Wayne UNITED’s multiple programs, city government as a whole, and city taxpayers.

Last month, Mayor Tucker invited the Ten Point Coalition to operate on a part-time basis as donation/grant funded employees of the City of Fort Wayne. The Fort Wayne UNITED Steering Committee recently shared with Mayor Tucker its desire to oversee and manage Fort Wayne UNITED initiatives, including the Ten Point Coalition, moving forward. Accordingly, the City will neither oversee nor directly participate in Fort Wayne UNITED programming as of today.

Mayor Tucker and the City wish the Fort Wayne UNITED Steering Committee well in its future endeavors in helping to make our community the very best it can be. City leaders are confident that the Fort Wayne UNITED Steering Committee will do a great job moving forward and support the opportunity for them to lead.
