FWPD: Alleged Child Abuse Arrest

Nathaniel Harris was arrested in Danville, Illinois, on July 31, 2024, on warrants for child molesting.

Details/Summary:

On May 16, 2024, a mother took her thirteen (13) years old daughter to a local hospital after the daughter made allegations about Child Sexual Abuse. A FWPD officer met with them at the hospital. The child disclosed being abused by Nathaniel Harris. Detective Jean Gigli, an investigator from the FWPD Crimes Against Persons Section (CAPS), was assigned to the case.

Detective Gigli was granted a Search Warrant for the cellular telephone belonging to Mr. Harris. Detective Gigli, along with Detective Sergeant Todd Battershell and Detective Kenneth Johnson detained Mr. Harris at his workplace and collected the cellular telephone. An arrest warrant was subsequently issued for the listed charges.

Mr. Harris was located in Danville, Illinois by members of the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), C/IL Danville office on July 31, 2024 and taken into custody. He is awaiting extradition to Fort Wayne, Allen County. Detective Gigli was also assisted by the Dr. Bill Lewis Center For Children, Indiana Department of Child Services-Allen County, FWPD Victims Assistance, and USMS, Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (GLRFTF) Fort Wayne office.
