On May 16th, 2024 the Fort Wayne Police Department received a child abuse complaint from the Department of Child Services. Shortly thereafter, a forensic interview was conducted with the 13-year-old victim at the Dr. Bill Lewis Center for Children. The victim disclosed that over the past two years she had been physically abused at two different locations in Fort Wayne by her cousin and legal guardian Jasmine Rowland.

Furthermore, the victim stated that when she was twelve (12 years old) she had been molested repeatedly by Johnnie Jones at Jasmine Rowland’s apartment at 7300 Decatur Road.

After receiving the disclosure, this investigation was assigned to Detective Miranda Lasley of the Crimes Against Persons Unit (CAPS). She was assisted by Detective Jean Gigli. During the investigation a search warrant was executed today by (CAPS) detectives at both locations. Both suspects were located today and subsequently arrested for various criminal charges.
