Governor’s Public Health Commissioner meeting – November 18, 2021
Indianapolis, Indiana (November 16, 2021) — The Governor’s Public Health Commission will discuss public health funding issues during its next meeting on Thursday, Nov. 18, 2021.
The meeting will run from 1 to 3 p.m. in Room 211 of the Indiana State Library, 315 W. Ohio St., in Indianapolis. Proceedings will be livestreamed and available online.
Governor Eric J. Holcomb established the 15-member commission in August to study Indiana’s public health infrastructure and make recommendations for improvements. The commission is co-chaired by former State Health Commissioner Dr. Judy Monroe, who now serves as president and CEO of the CDC Foundation, and former state Sen. Luke Kenley. Current State Health Commissioner Kris Box, M.D., FACOG, serves as secretary, while former Congresswoman Susan Brooks serves as a non-voting citizen advisor.
The commission is examining the strengths and weaknesses of Indiana’s current public health system and will make recommendations to improve the delivery of public health services across the state. In addition to funding, the commission’s work is focusing on areas including emergency preparedness, governance and structure, data and information, and the integration of childhood and adolescent health services. Last month, the commission heard from experts on healthcare and public health workforce issues.
