Vehicle vs Bicyclist Fatal Crash

On Thursday, September 9, 2021, at approximately 3:31 PM, Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department were dispatched to the area of Meridith Dr. and Stellhorn Rd. in reference to a vehicle crash with injuries. Initial reports indicated that a vehicle had struck a bicyclist.
Upon arrival, Officers found a female/adult bicyclist suffering from life threatening injuries. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
Preliminary information indicates the vehicle was traveling eastbound on Stellhorn and struck the bicyclist who was heading northbound on Meridith Dr. The occupants of the vehicle were not injured in the crash. The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
Eastbound Stellhorn Rd. remains closed between Reed Rd. and Eicher Dr. while investigators process the scene.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim.
