Attend Free Rain Garden Workshops from Home

Fort Wayne, Indiana (August 16, 2021) – Residents can learn how to install a rain garden and soak up stormwater in their yard from anywhere with City Utilities’ virtual Rain Garden Sessions.

The free rain garden workshops are 90-minutes and offered through Zoom this week and next. Join City Utilities from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on either Aug 17, 24, or 26. You must pre-register at https://www.catchingrainfw.org/ or by calling 3-1-1. Registering allows attendees to access the material needed for the workshop.

A rain garden is a landscaped area that holds rainwater runoff for a few hours to a few days using native plants that help the soil soak up more water. After a rain event, the water slowly soaks into the ground. Compared with a grassed lawn area, a rain garden may allow 30% more water to be absorbed.

Each session requires pre-registration and is limited to the first 25 enrollees.
