Biggest opening day ever at Three Rivers Festival’s Junk Food Alley!
Organizers report large turnout after a year off.

Fort Wayne, Indiana (July 11, 2021) – After the pandemic forced the cancellation of last year’s festival, the Three Rivers Festival saw its largest opening day sales ever at Junk Food Ally! “One thing is clear,” said John Nichter, President of the Three Rivers Festival Board of Directors. “Fort Wayne and Northeast Indiana is ready to get back to normal.” Organizers made adjustments to spread vendors out more than a typical year and those guests that feel more comfortable wearing masks are invited to do so. The Festival says there has been a steady stream of people all weekend excited to get their elephant ear, lemon shake-up or other treats.

The Three Rivers Festival Board of Directors has also announced that there has been a change with the 2021 Bed Race. It has been replaced by the TRF Pickleball Experience presented by Fort Wayne Metals. The change came after some late cancellations by participants. Instead, the festival says the Fort Wayne Pickleball Association has stepped up along with Fort Wayne Metals and will give festival guests the chance to experience one of the fastest-growing sports in the country. “It’s great timing to bring in TRF Pickleball Experience as a replacement event,” said John Nichter. “The Pickleball Association hosted a 600-person regional tournament just two weeks before the festival. There is excitement about this sport in Fort Wayne.” There will be multiple Pickleball courts set up on Main Street Wednesday night along with instructors for festival guests to learn how to play. The event begins at 6:30pm on Wednesday, July 14.
