Ft. Wayne’s Farmers Market to start Wednesday 3-7 in McCulloch Park

Fort Wayne, Indiana (June 14, 2021) – The Ft. Wayne’s Farmers Market has made historic McCulloch Park its home this summer and is expanding to prepare for a permanent multi-day market in Electric Works in the fall of 2022.

The market began its summer outdoor season this spring, with more than 70 local and regional vendors. It will move to two days a week beginning June 16, operating from 3-7pm each Wednesday and 9am-1pm each Saturday through the summer. The market will feature live entertainment at the park’s gazebo, as well as other family-friendly activities throughout the summer. Multilingual signage and banners will be present to help you find the market.

“McCulloch Park has proven to be a great interim step for the farmers market and for its future growth. The patrons have had a chance to explore a different park and enjoy all of the great vendors,” said Leigh Rowan, director of Ft. Wayne’s Farmers Market. “We will continue with our mission and to offer an even more inclusive, community-focused experience for our vendors and guests. The support and coordination of the Parks Department, City of Fort Wayne, the Electric Works team and Weigand Construction have been important in helping get us to this exciting next step for the market.”

Increasing the market frequency to two days a week is the next step in the Ft. Wayne’s Farmer Market’s longer-term plan for its permanent establishment at Electric Works beginning next year.

“The community has enjoyed access to locally sourced food since we have moved and our attendance has significantly increased. We have seen an increase in bike’s, pets and families. The compliments we have received has helped us to confirm that our move was on track with what the community wanted to see.

Patrons can park in the 3 acre lot located just East of McCulloch Park that is provided to us by Electric Works.

Founded in 2012, Ft. Wayne Farmers Market is the original, continually operating year-round, producer-only market in northeast Indiana. The market offers a variety of products from dozens of vendors ranging from farm and garden, home-based and professionally prepared foods that are minimally processed foods, natural products, and local artisans. It’s also developed its own farm-inspection program. For more information, visit ftwaynesfarmersmarket.com.
